There are exactly 4 Types in Human Design — not 5. Manifesting Generator is a sub-type of Generator. Each type has a distinct aura, a different relationship to energy, and a specific Strategy for navigating life correctly. Understanding your type is the first and most important step in living your Design.
Why Type Matters
In Ra Uru Hu's Human Design System, the Type is determined by which energy centers are defined in the bodygraph and whether a motor center is connected to the Throat. Type is not a personality category — it is a mechanical description of how your energy is designed to operate in the world.
Each type has a unique aura — an energetic field that operates unconsciously, 24 hours a day, determining how others experience you and how life flows to you. The Strategy for each type emerges directly from aura mechanics: it is the decision-making framework that aligns with how your aura actually works.
